Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s maritime masterpiece has been stunningly restored to her Victorian splendour as the centrepiece of an award-winning visitor attraction.

The historic ship now appears to be afloat in her original Dry Dock surrounded by a ‘glass sea’, which you can descend below to see the giant hull and propeller.

Visitors then travel back through time in the Dockyard Museum from her epic return, through the ship’s various lives until you board as passengers on her maiden voyage. On board, hear about the lives of her passengers and crew in the company of an audio companion by exploring all three decks.

New for 2006 – explore the restored ship’s engines, alter the speed of the massive three-storey steam engine and take orders from the Captain. Celebrate the great engineer’s 200th birthday with a visit to the special ‘Nine Lives of I K Brunel Exhibition’ in the ss Great Britain Maritime Heritage Centre, alongside the Great Western Dockyard.

Tickets now permit free and unlimited return visits for 12 months from the date of issue.
